Bhubaneswar: Opposition chief whip Taraprasad Bahinipati Tuesday moved a privilege motion against a vernacular TV channel for telecasting some content, which violated breach of privilege of the House.
“Having gone through the TV programme it is assumed that the people of Odisha have been misled and a wrong message has been sent to the public about the functioning of the House,” Bahinipati said in his notice.
However, Speaker Pradip Amat ruled that he would examine the matter and directed House Secretary to issue a show-cause notice to the television channel as to why the permission granted to the company for its entry to the Assembly precincts and right to telecast the proceedings of the House shall not be withdrawn on the grounds mentioned by the Congress chief whip.
