Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: Orissa footballers affiliated to FAO are being deprived of concessions in railway tickets since the last five years as per the rules of the national sports bodies. According to the provision, there should be 75 per cent concessions for players who are travelling to participate in various national level competitions.
This kind of apathy has perturbed the footballers of the state despite the fact that Football Association of Orissa (FAO) is accredited to All India Football Federation of India (AIFF).
Orissa Football Association (OFA) was reformed as Football Association of Orissa (FAO) in 2010. Footballers playing under the banner of OFA were availing the concession facility, but FAO footballers are being deprived of the same. AIFF is also not taking any steps against the inaction of the Railways.
“We have written a letter regarding this to the Railway authorities and are expecting a reply from them very soon,” stated FAO vice-president Bhakta Ballabha Das in Cuttack, Saturday.
