The first full-fledged railway budget of the Narendra Modi government will prove to be a milestone in the development of railway sector in Orissa. Modiji’s promise of development of eastern region has been reflected in the budget.
Dharmendra Pradhan | union petroleum minister
It is a developmental, needful and pro-people budget and more emphasis has given to the security of passengers, modernisation of stations and development of infrastructure. The ticket fare has not been increased, which is a welcome step. Besides, the budget has provisions for completion of projects, modernisation of platforms, and doubling of rail lines in Orissa.
Jual Oram | union tribal affairs minister
It is a hollow and aimless budget. There is no idea and no dream in the budget. They (BJP) are just claiming that it is a pro-people budget but they did not clarify. Not only for Orissa, they have failed to say what they are going to do for the entire country. The government has failed to envision the future.
Tathagata Satpathy | BJD MP
It is a pro-people and revolutionary budget. The NDA government has given emphasis to Orissa in the budget despite the state government not submitting project proposals in time.
Pratap Sarangi | senior BJP leader
The budget is disappointing for Orissa. The provision made in the budget for doubling of rail lines and withdrawing of level-crossing gates for Orissa is less than what the UPA government had given in the last Railway budget.
Prasad Harichandan | pcc president
