Bhubaneswar: Preenu Yadav and Ramesh Kumar emerged champions in the 21.1 kilometre male and female categories respectively in the IIIrd edition of the Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Half Marathon here Sunday.
In the 10km event Manoj Singh and Rita Bhadauria took top honours in the male and female segment respectively. Bablu Patra and Sabita Mahanta clinched the title in the 5km male and female category respectively.
Ramesh and Preeny bagged a cash award of Rs 1,00,000 each. Around 4500 people participated in the event. The only professional half marathon (21.1 km) run of the city organised by the steel major in association with Orissa’s sports and youth services department, was flagged off by Governor S C Jamir.
The half marathon started from Kalinga stadium. Orissa Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi joined the event as chief guest and felicitated winners of various categories.
