BHUBANESWAR: KIIT NSS Bureau organised a certificate distribution ceremony at School of Computer Engineer (SCE) on the college campus here Wednesday.
A student volunteer who has completed 240 hrs of work is eligible for NSS Certificate from the university. This certificate gives weightage for higher studies and is an additional qualification for appointment in public services.
Sital Dash, program officer, and Samaresh Mishra, Dean, School of Computer Engineer, felicitated 25 NSS volunteers for their remarkable social service.
Dash said, “Life is a challenge and whoever faces it shines. Try to realise the dream of your parents and make the best use of your inner potential. Differences in the mind and attitude of an individual are inevitable. You need to look into the society intensely to see the complex problems in the society. The way of looking into the society has to be cultivated.”
Samaresh Mishra said, “All the students must be in contact with the college even after graduation. When you believe and think yourself as ordinary, you will be eventually become extraordinary. If you want to live, then live for others. Until and unless you adopt the right knowledge, action and aptitude, you can’t contribute in nation building.”
The overall objective of NSS is personality development through community service, identifying needs and problems of the community, developing a sense of social and civic responsibility, utilising their knowledge in finding practical solution to community problems and so on.
One of the volunteer Md Manzar Hasnain said, “I feel great. My work for the society is finally being recognised. We have a unit of 350 volunteers. We have great experience of working together and learning from each other. Our motto is NOT ME BUT YOU.”
Another volunteer Saina Saify said, “I like to work for the society and help people through NSS. It is a great platform where we learn something every day by working as a team.”
Some of the projects that are currently running under the umbrella of NSS SCE are Lipi, Sarthi, Go green, Roshni, Arogya, Pragati, Vikas, Daan and Aashayein among others.
