Berhampur: Acting on a tip-off, a special investigation team of Haryana Police Tuesday conducted a raid at Army Air Defence College at Golabandh in Ganjam district and arrested an Armyman in connection with the sensational Rewari gangrape involving a CBSE topper.
The accused was identified as Navin alias Miku of Naiugaon under Koshli police limits in Mahendragarh district of Haryana. Navin was absconding after the incident.
The SIT members with the help of Gopalpur police nabbed him from Army Air Defence (AAD) training centre at Gopalpur where he had joined six months back and was on a leave when the incident occurred.
Haryana Police with the help of the State Police first raided a few places at Bhubaneswar and later went to Golabandh to arrest him.
He was produced in a local court and later taken on remand for 10 days to Haryana. The incident occurred when the survivor was returning home after attending her coaching class September 12.
Earlier, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had arrested prime accused Nishu, Army jawan Pankaj and his friend Manish September 23 in connection with the case.
On September 12, Nishu, along with Pankaj and Manish, allegedly abducted, drugged and gangraped the 19-year-old girl when she was on her way to coaching classes at Mahendergarh’s Kanina in Haryana.
