Bargarh: In a major robbery, miscreants late Friday night looted about Rs 18 lakh from the office of a private finance company located behind the Rotary Public School here.
The looters managed to enter the office of Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited, a non-banking finance company and decamped with Rs 18.64 lakh kept in the locker.
Town police began a probe with the help of a dog squad and a forensic team.
Police have detained three employees of the company in this connection as they were suspected to be involved in the incident.
According to reports, the company had been functioning since 2008 at a rented house of one Kulamani Mohapatra near Bhatli Chhak. While the number of staff of the company is stated to be 10, it used to provide housing loans to the poor.
Three of company’s employees – Rashmi Ranjan Sahoo, Chhabila Suna and Chakradhar Sunani had slept inside the office Friday night.
In the late night, three masked man suddenly entered into the office when Chakradhar opened the main door to come out of the office to relive himself. The robbers sprayed petrol on them and looted the cash, said Chakradhar.
One such incident took place about a year back at finance firm at Atabira in the district and some employees were involved in it.
