New Delhi: Union Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar Thursday said the Centre is working towards improving the density of schools in the backward (aspiration) districts of the country.
He said many such districts had very less density of schools in these areas. Many such backward districts also exist in Odisha for which the NITI Aayog recently deputed bureaucrats to look after the controversy over alleged attack on the federal structure as raised by the state government.
“There are some backward districts, which we call aspiration districts. It is really unfortunate that even after 70 years of Independence there is very less schools and colleges there. We are working to fill the void and the schemes like the Samagrah Bharat can help in this regard,” Javadekar said.
He was speaking while attending the launching ceremony of Samagrah Bharat scheme which aims at all-round development of schoolchildren from nursery to Class XII and bringing many ongoing schools for schoolchildren into one. The minister, meanwhile, also urged the state governments to work towards deployment of recruited teachers in unserved areas in order to get central assistance.
