Nimapada: Shahid Sporting sealed their semifinal spot in the All India Nimapada Cup cricket tournament after thrashing Devendra Sporting of Kolkata by eight wickets in the quarterfinals here, Wednesday.
Shahid Sporting put in opposition to bat after winning the toss and skittled them out for a paltry total of 97 in 21.2 overs. Shivandan Sharma (28) was the only batsman to offer some resistance. Prakash Sagar (four wickets) and Gyana Ranjan Mallick (two wickets) bowled well for Shahid Sporting.
In reply, Shahid Sporting notched up the target with ease in just 14.2 overs. Rashmi Ranjan Parida (36) batted well for the winning side and he got an able support from Siddhant Sagar (35).
Hosts thrash APS
PM Academy routed Achilles Public School (APS) 4-0 in a match of the Inter-School football tournament, organised by the Orissa Veteran Sports Persons’ Association, at the PM Academy Ground in Cuttack, Wednesday.
In other matches on the day, SCB Medical Public School got a walkover as their opponents Raghunath Jew Bidyapitha didn’t turn up, while City High School and Railway Settlement School won their games against Baba Sagar Das Bidyapitha and Mansingh Patna High School respectively via the tie-breaker.
