Mahakalpara: The local residents here expressed concern after spotting tattered Tricolours flown atop some fishing boats in this block in Kendrapara district Wednesday.
According to a report, the fishermen have anchored their boats at places including Jambu, Bhateni, Kanspal, Bagagahan and Badadandua near Jambu marine along the Gobari river.
These fishing communities, who eke their livelihood from fishing in the Bay of Bengal, have not gone into the sea due to the warning about low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal.
It is mandatory for the Indian fishermen to have a Tricolour atop their boats for safety reasons. These fishermen, however, have hoisted tattered Tricolours, triggering resentment here.
The local residents have demanded the arrest of the violators of the code of conduct associated with the National flag.
When contacted, the Jambu marine police station inspector-in-charge Priyabrata Das said action would soon be taken against the fishermen who violated the guidelines.
