Bhubaneswar: In a bid to attract foreign investments to state, a high-level team headed by industry minister Debi Prasad Mishra left for the United States of America (USA) to attend the Global Investment Meet at Silicon Valley which is scheduled to held between May 4 and 7.
IT secretary PK Jena, industry secretary Sanjiv Chopra, Idco managing director Sanjay Singh and officials from Orissa Computer Application Centre (OCAC) and some entrepreneurs from different organisations are part of the team. The team will attend various business-to-business meetings and the global meetings of entrepreneurs, policy makers and investors at Silicon Valley.
“We will attend the global investment meet to highlight the investment opportunities in the state. We will tell them about Orissa’s performance in terms of attracting investments and measures to be taken to boost IT and Electronic System Designing and Manufacturing (EDMS) sector,” said Mishra.
The delegation would also interact with investors of Silicon Valley on the occasion of Biju Birth Centenary celebrations at Santa Clara Convention Centre, San Francisco and discuss Biju Babu’s role in development of Orissa, he said.
The inaugural meet of the four-day long programme will discuss Global Entrepreneurship Trends and government’s role in promoting technology entrepreneurship, among other issues.
The team would also visit Facebook headquarters, Plug and Play Incubator, Stanford University Incubator. They will discuss and take inputs regarding policies for start-up May 5.
