Bhubaneswar, Feb 14: The three-day Dhauli Art Festival which saw several budding artists come together at the Dhauli Stupa came to an end Saturday.
Organised jointly by Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi and Dhauli College of Art and Crafts, the festival saw several children from schools across the city take part. On the concluding day of the festival, a drawing competition was organised for the kids while a rangoli and mehendi competition was held for parents.
In the evening, 12 artists who had come from different parts of the state for taking part in a painting event were felicitated with `12,000 each. Children who took part in the drawing competition were awarded certificates and trophies. An atmosphere of fun and frolic prevailed on the last day of the festival, with a sizeable crowd in attendance.
While talking to reporters, Panchanan Samal, principal of Dhauli College of Art & Crafts, said, “This festival gave many professional and budding artists a platform to exhibit their work. Many art connoisseurs visited the festival and appreciated the artists’ work. With passage of time, art and artists are getting more recognition. Earlier, people would generally refer to painters as people who make signboards, but now horizons of art have expanded,” Samal said.
The Dhauli Art Festival in its three days came up with a range of paintings, prints, ceramics, sculptures and installations, drawing widespread appreciation from visitors.
