Bonai, Nov 24: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday sought the cooperation of people across all sections of society to fight drought situation in the state.
Addressing a rally at Raja Dharanidhar Mini Stadium here in Sundargarh district, Patnaik said he expected the farmers to overcome the hurdles and make use of government assistance effectively in the coming rabi season to reap a bumper harvest.
In his one-day visit to the district, the Chief Minister inaugurated four projects and laid foundation stones for as many new projects. The projects inaugurated on the occasion were – a four-lane road in Bonai, streetlight project, RMC office building and model training centre and a hostel building. Similarly, foundation stones were laid for doubling of Gurundia-Jarda road, a bridge over Brahmani river at Jangala and two bridges over Rukuda and Baneikala canals.
While the district information and public relations officer Jaydev Panigrahi presided over the meeting, collector Bhupindra Singh Punia introduced the guests.
Sundargarh MP and Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram, steel and mines minister Prafulla Mallik, Rajya Sabha MP Dilip Tirkey, local MLA Laxman Munda and RDA chairman Sarada Nayak were present at the meeting. Two other MLAs Mangala Kishan and Subrat Tarai who were also present at the meeting said the government would soon come out with a special package for the development of Bonai.
The programme was attended by more than 30,000 people, sources said.
