New Delhi: A seven-month-old baby girl was allegedly killed her mother in Delhi. With the arrest of the 27-year-old woman, Adiba, Delhi police have solved the murder case of the baby.
During interrogation, the accused woman admitted that she believed the infant was responsible for the family’s financial problems, police said.
Police received information that a 7-month-old baby was declared dead on arrival at Moolchand Hospital. Cops received information that the girl had drowned in a water bucket at her home at about 5:30 pm, August 20.
During probe, the police noticed there were marks on the baby’s body and sent it for autopsy to AIIMS. The post mortem report stated that “the cause of death is fatal pressure over the neck”.
A case was then registered at Hazrat Nizamuddin Police Station. The child’s father was interrogated and it was found out that he was a tailor and his shop was 100 metres away from the house.
He had married Adiba one and half years ago and they had a daughter. On the day of the incident, Adiba ran to his shop and told him the child was drowning in a bucket of water. Israr immediately rushed home and they both took the unconscious child to Moolchand Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
Adiba was also questioned. According to the post mortem report, no water was found in the baby’s internal organs. Contradictions started to emerge in the version stated by her. She was the only person present at home when the incident took place.
On sustained interrogation, she broke down and confessed to murdering her daughter. She said that since her daughter’s birth, the entire family had been facing medical and financial problems. She considered her death to be the only solution at eliminating their financial crunch and other problems.
On the day of the incident, while the child was asleep, Adiba strangled her with a dupatta and killed her. After that, she put the child’s body in a bucket of water to show that the baby had drowned.
After that she pulled the baby out of the bucket and kept her on the bed and rushed to her husband to inform him about the situation.
Adiba was arrested in the case for murder and the dupatta used was recovered on her instance.
