Sundargarh: A man impersonating an SOG jawan befriended a woman for sexual favours on the pretext of marriage at Sankara under Town police limits in this district. The matter came to light after the woman lodged a complaint with police in this connection Monday.
According to sources, the victim operating a beauty parlour in Rangadhipa became acquainted with the accused while she had gone to obtain her Plus II certificates from her college in Bhubaneswar in 2015.
The accused introduced himself as an SOG jawan and a resident of Hemgiri in Sundargarh district. They exchanged their contact numbers and slowly developed a friendly relationship over the phone.
The accused then lured into physical relationship on the pretext of marriage and impregnated her. When the girl insisted on marriage, he asked her to abort the child. He then allegedly took her ATM card and fled after withdrawing Rs 7 lakh from her account, the complainant said.
Demanding justice, the victim approached police and demanded stringent action against the accused.
