Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident in Bhubaneswar’s Ashok Nagar area a man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat in the Kalibadi slum near Raj Mahal square Sunday. The accused after committing the crime is absconding.
According to the police, the couple had shifted to a rented room in the slum 15 days ago. The neighbours have claimed that the two used to get into fights as the man used to return home inebriated frequently.
Reportedly in the wee hours of September 23, a neighbour had seen the man hurriedly lock the door of the house and rush away. Following that, the door was not opened by anyone till the evening. The neighbour suspected something fishy going on and peeped through the window, only to find the woman lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
On receiving information, police from Capital Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The neighbour revealed to the police everything that had been witnessed and even added that the two used to speak in Hindi.
While the woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem, the identity of the woman and her husband is yet to be ascertained.
The police will also look into the footage of a CCTV camera outside a nearby hotel to identify the man, said sources.
