Aska: A youth was stabbed to death by two youths at Pudugeswarbhali village under Aska police limits in Ganjam district over some viral pictures Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Sagar Swain (24) while the accused duo also hailed from the same village.
According to police, a woman of a neighbouring village was molested by the two accused when she had gone to attend a festival two months back.
Meanwhile, Swain had cunningly recorded their act. He then uploaded the pictures on social media. Based on the viral pictures, police arrested the duo and produced them in court after which they were sent to jail.
Since then, the two had hatched a plan to teach Swain a lesson. After their release on bail, the duo arrived at Swain’s village and attacked him with a knife while the latter was returning home after taking bath in Rushikulya river near his village.
In a bid to save his life, Swain tried to run away, but the miscreants chased and stabbed him. He was then left to die in a pool of blood. Swain was rescued by locals and rushed to Aska sub-divisional hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
Acting on a complaint by Swain’s mother, police intercepted the duo from Kabisuryanagar while they were planning to go to Berhampur and take a train outside the state. The body was sent for post-mortem and later handed over to family members for last rites.
