Airstrip, industrial park to come up at Dhamara

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to strengthen the port based infrastructure, the state government has decided to set up an airstrip and an industrial park near Dhamara port.
This was revealed at a review meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi recently. The issues relating to expansion and development four ports on the coastline of the state were discussed at the meeting.
During the meeting, Padhi directed Dhamara Port officials to expedite the process of the construction of second phase expansion and finalise the third phase expansion plan for advance action. They were also asked to prepare the detailed project report for establishment of an airstrip over 225 acre of land in the vicinity of Dhamara port, official sources said here Wednesday.
He also instructed the state PSU Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Orissa (IDCO) to protect and reserve around 1,000 acre of land for port based industrial park near Dhamara. Bhadrak collector was also directed to reserve the available government land in Chandbali and Basudevpur tehsil for the purpose.
The government has also asked the port officials to submit detailed proposal for sanction of sufficient number of rakes in railway, the source said.
It was also decided at the meeting to complete ongoing construction work at Gopalpur port project within June 2019. Ganjam collector was asked to finalise railway siding matter with Railway ministry. The project proponent was asked to utilise skilled manpower available in the locality.
It was also decided to move Ministry of Railways for doubling of the rail line from Chhatrapur to Gopalpur, they said. Review showed that around 693 acre of land had been handed over to Subranarekha Port Pvt Ltd. The project authority has been directed to start ground level construction work immediately. The government also sought detailed project report for construction of economic corridor.
Similarly, the project proponent of Astarang port was advised to take expeditious steps for obtaining environmental clearances and complete social impact assessment study through appropriate authority for construction of the port, they added.
