Baripada/Bangiriposhi: Irate residents tied a primary school headmaster to a pole and beat him up for allegedly molesting a schoolgirl at Andalo under Bangiriposhi police limits in Mayurbhanj district Monday.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued the headmaster Tapas Kumar Giri from the irate locals and arrested him. Acting on the girl’s complaint, police registered a case and started an investigation.
Similarly, another girl also lodged a similar complaint against Giri in the police station. The girl will be sent for a medical test Tuesday, police said.
Giri, the headmaster of Andalo Project Upper Primary School, is accused of molesting a Class-VI girl of the school. The incident sparked tension in the area as locals and guardians assembled at a place and tied up Giri to a pole and gave him a good thrashing.
Police said Giri molested the girl six days ago after he found her alone. He even threatened to fail her in the examinations if she disclosed the matter to anybody. The incident has traumatised her so much that she refused to attend the school despite her family members’ pleadings. When questioned, she narrated her ordeal to her parents.
