Orissa bodybuilders shine


Bhubaneswar: Orissa bodybuilders bagged nine medals, including three gold, four silver and two bronze medals, on the second day of the VIIIth East Zone Bodybuilding Championships, which concluded Sunday evening at the Utkal Karate School here.

Orissa finished the meet with 19 medals, including six golds, six silvers and seven bronzes, which include a silver and a bronze in the women’s category.

On the second day, Rashmi Ranjan Sahoo and Bikash Kumar Sahoo of Orissa bagged gold and silver medals respectively in the 80kg category. Nepram Rakesh Singh of Manipur finished third.

In the 85kg category, state lad Supratibh Khuntia clinched silver medal while Manipur’s Laitamjam Rishikant Singh and Santosh Ram of Meghalaya finished first and third respectively.

In the 90kg segment, Orissa’s Chhutku Dutt, Satyajit Pratihari and Sujit Jena finished first, second and third respectively.

In the men’s fitness event, state lads Abhijit Swain, Pupun Swain and Subham Mishra won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

However, the day belonged to Manipur lad Rishikant, who was crowned ‘Mr Eastern India’ by becoming the ‘Champion of Champions’.
