Kendrapara: A seventeen-year-old girl of Manjulapalli under Talachua marine police station was raped Sunday night by a relative, Santu Jena (22) of Tikayatnagar, as per a police complaint.
IIC Sitakantha Kanungo said Santu was married to a cousin of the victim. When the victim’s parents were away from home, Santu took her on his bike to Tikayatnagar and raped her in some open field. Locals who found the two in a compromising position rescued the girl while Santu fled the scene.
The victim’s father lodged an FIR at Talachua marine police station Monday. Police registered a case and detained Santu. The girl and the man will be medically examined Tuesday.
