Sambalpur: Two persons were killed and 15 others suffered injuries after a bus carrying picnickers collided with an oil tanker near Kayakuda under Jujumura police station here Saturday evening.
One of the deceased was identified as Shuka Das (48) of Gopalpur under Balichandrapur block in Jajpur district while the identity of the other person is yet to be established.
At least 40 people from Balichandrapur had gone to Hirakud dam for a picnic. On their way back home, the vehicle collided with an oil tanker near Kayakuda on Sambalpur-Cuttack NH-55. While one died on the spot, all injured were admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
Sambalpur Collector Samarth Verma and MLA Raseswari Panigrahi met the injured at the hospital.
