Bhubaneswar: Every city has its tale to tell. Bhubaneswar too has its own and to depict it more lively an art show called ‘0674 Hello Bhubaneswar’ opened at the Lalit Kala Akademi Sunday.
The event is a week-long fest where different artists will showcase their theme on Bhubaneswar. The show was inaugurated by IG of Police Soumendra Priyadarshi and poet Jayanta Mohapatra.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony Soumendra Priyadarshi said, “Bhubaneswar has a long tale to tell as it has grown into a multi-dimensional city. From caves and monuments to art centre and IT hubs the city is expanding and so is its future. It’s a privilege to witness known artistes representing their thoughts about the city via their art work’.
Poet Jayanta Dash said, “The city is like poetry with various emotions and I am glad its beauty is being reflected through canvas and installations at the academy.’
Interacting with Orissa Post curator of the show Veejayant Dash said, “This art show is all about people’s feeling about the city and we have got lucky when people from all walks of life collaborated with amazing artistes to represent the theme through artwork. I can’t thank enough all the artistes and filmmaker Kapilash Bhuiyan, poet Ravindra Swain, film Journalist Surya Deo, social activist Shruti Mohapatra and others. Their collective efforts have made this art show possible and a wonderful experience for everyone who witnesses it.”
Artistes who are participating in the show include Aparna Ray, Ashis Dhir, Bandeesh Patra, Rabi Narayan Pradhan, Smruti Tripathy, Ute Eisinger, Veejayanta Dash, Subrata Mullick, Sudeep Barik, Surya Deo, Ramhari Jena, Samita Mohanty and several others.
The gallery showcases various installations, video, audio and canvas paintings as well as stone sculptures.
Overall, it’s a poetical expression of the historically Ekamra Kshetra that was formally established only in 1948. The 70 year old city has a long story to tell artistically for sure.
