Koraput: A preparedness meeting ahead of drone camera surveys to be conducted for issue of land rights to slum dwellers in this district was held Saturday at the skill enhancement training centre here.
Presided over by Collector Sudarshan Chakraborty, the meeting was attended by PD-DRDA Deben Pradhan, Tata Trust programme coordinator Bibhu Prasad Tripathy from Bhubaneswar and other civic body officials.
According to a preliminary survey conducted earlier, 181 slums were detected under the jurisdictions of three municipalities – Koraput, Jeypore, Sunabeda and Kotpad NAC. The slums are inhabited by 15,401 families.
Of them, 3,273 families live in 25 slums of Koraput, 7,572 families in 119 slums of Jeypore and 3,697 families in 23 slum areas in Sunabeda. Similarly, 14 slums having 859 families were detected under Kotpad NAC jurisdiction.
Tata Trust coordinator Tripathy, using digital platform, explained the district officials about the procedures to be undertaken to issue land pattas to the slum dwellers.
It would take 58 days to complete the survey of three municipalities and an NAC of Koraput district through drone cameras, Tripathy said.
Collector Chakraborty laid emphasis as to how the landless and poor of urban areas can benefit from the scheme launched by the state government.
Koraput municipality chairman Bhagaban Bahinipati, Jeypore municipality chairman Suryanarayan Rath, Sunabeda municipality chairperson Shubhashree Mallik and Kotpad NAC chairperson Sumitra Swain were present among others in the meeting.
