Kolimati: With the sole bread earner confined to the bed due to leg fracture, a four-member family has been struggling to make both ends meet here.
Shiva Prasad Naik of Kanto village under this panchayat of Anandapur block in Keonjhar district has a family of four including his wife and two sons.
When he was working at a workshop at Dhamara in Bhadrak, an iron gate fell on his leg and fractured his bones. His co-workers rushed him to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
Naik, who is back home now, has been struggling to meet his medical and other expenses.
Naik’s wife Basanti manages the family by selling plates she sew out of leaves from nearby jungles.
“The government gives help to many poor people. If the government provides us some help, my husband can get well,” Basanti said.
