Berhampur: In a horrific incident, a young couple was left battling for life after they allegedly tried to self-immolate themselves over a family dispute Sunday. The incident was reported from Korabanka colony under Gunupur area of Rayagada district.
The couple was identified as Nagesh Sabar and his wife Manashi Sabar. Upon hearing their screams, neighbours rushed to their house and rescued the two in a critical condition. They were first admitted to Gunupur sub-divisional hospital. Later, Manashi was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after her condition further deteriorated.
Sources said, an altercation between the couple over a petty issue was the reason of the drastic step taken by the couple. The couple got into an exchange of words over some issue Sunday morning. Situation turned worse when both set themselves on fire after pouring kerosene.
On being informed police rushed to the spot and started an investigation.
