Loisingha: A man was electrocuted while his wife and daughter were left battling for their lives after they came in contact with an electric wire at Kutarapali village near Loisingha block in Bolangir district Friday evening.
Mangalu Dharua (35), who was a labourer, suffered electric shock when he switched on the table fan. Hearing his screams, his wife Kousalaya Dharua (30) and daughter Rajeshwari (3) tried to save him but in vain. The duo also sustained burn injuries in the process.
Some neighbours reached the spot immediately and rushed them to the Loisingha community health centre.
Doctors declared Mangalu dead while the injured have been shifted to the Bolangir district hospital.
Police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
