Bantala: Tension prevailed at Tumuni Telitela village under Angul forest range after a tusker was electrocuted after coming in contact with an electric wire Friday.
Locals spotted the carcass and alerted the forest officials. A team of forest officials recovered the carcass and performed the post-mortem. The pachyderm was around 12 years old.
Locals blamed the forest department officials of failing to keep track on the movements of the pachyderms.
On the spot were ranger Satyabrat Pradhan, Jayant Sahu and other forest officials.
