Chandbali: Tension prevailed on the premises of Chandbali College Saturday when some outsiders assaulted a student and left him critical. Police arrested three people in this connection following a complaint.
The complaint stated that some non-students attacked Sujit Kumar Mallick, a 3rd year student, in the forenoon. He was admitted to Chandbali Community Health Centre.
Following the incident, scores of students staged sit-in protests at the college gate.
The college continued to be tense even as the injured student was shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
A student leader of another college had uploaded some photos and postings in social media. Sujit had allegedly made some remarks on these postings, leading to trouble. When the police were taking the three non-students to a court, two groups of students clashed.
Principal Nimai Pattnaik said none has made a complaint to him in this regard while police took stock of the situation.
