Bhubaneswar: Prakash Kumar Behera and Anupama Swain took the top honours in the men’s and the women’s segments in the Utkal Sports Meet, organised by Utkal Karate School here Thursday
Prakash and Anupama topped the table in machine squat, shoulder thrust, deadlift, log bell clean and jerk, power stairs and bus pulling competitions.
In the men’s category Bichitra Nayak secured the second position while Atish Kumar Bej finished third. In the women’s category Sanjukta Sahoo emerged runner-up and Subhasmita Mohanty secured the third position.
In the men’s fitness competition Akash Bhujabala emerged champion while Ashutosh Behera secured the second position. Sashanka Sekhar stood third. In the women’s fitness Gayatri Murmu clinched the title and Madhusmita Baliarsingh secured the second position. Chinmayee Chandrapava finished third.
In the men’s veteran segment Sarat Kumar Nayak took top honours while Jayaram Mallick finished second. In the women’s veteran event Ranjita Rath clinched the title and was followed by Suchismita Das.
Team leave
India U-15 football team left for Thursday for Shanghai, after finishing their preparatory camp at Cuttack to participate in the Jinshan Cup International Invitational football tournament. Purusottam Kerketta and Aman Khalko of the state are part of the team.
