Cuttack, March 17: District collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra Tuesday called upon intellectuals, litterateurs and thinkers to come forward to ensure that Utkal Diwas celebrations pass off smoothly.
‘Bande Utkal Janani’ would be played on loudspeakers at different locations across the city on the day (April 1), according to a decision taken at a preparatory meeting held at the conference hall of the collectorate under Mishra’s chairmanship to discuss the upcoming Utkal Diwas.
Besides, students will make rounds of the city and highlight the ideals of a glorious Orissa on the day. The statues of prominent personalities who had shaped the history of the state would be garlanded in the city, said Mishra.
Celebrations would not be confined to Cuttack city alone but would cover all parts of the district, including sub-divisions and gram panchyats, according to the collector. “All welfare officers and tehsildars have been urged to co-operate with the authorities to make the programmes a success,” the collector said.
One intellectual would visit each government-run school in the city to speak about the achievements of the prominent personalities of Orissa.
