Phulbani: Acting on a tip-off, security officials late Thursday arrested a most wanted Maoist cadre from Katarighati forest under Phiringia police limits in Kandhamal district.
The arrested rebel has been identified as Sushant Sahoo of Nayagarh. He was an active member of KKBN Maoist group.
According to sources, a Maoist camp was based at Katarighati forest. Acting on a tip-off on the movements of Naxals in the forest, security forces with the help of local cops conducted a surprise raid and apprehended Sushant from a rebel camp. The police party also seized posters, banners and a bag from the rebel camp.
According to police, Sushant was actively involved in Maoist attacks across the district. Sushant was also allegedly involved in a gun battle between the out-law organisation and the cops.
Further details about his division and his involvement will be revealed after the interrogation, informed Kandhamal SP Prateek Singh.
