Jhumpura: Three days after Orissa POST and leading Odia daily Dharitri reported the plight of Sunil Munda, a poverty-stricken and ailing tribal boy, in Basantpur panchayat under Jhumpura in Keonjhar, the Health Department came to his rescue and admitted him to Jhumpura CHC.
The 12-year-old boy is being treated under the care of Dr Sasmita Nayak and Dr PK Pati.
Sunil, the eldest son of Govind Munda, a resident of Tali Sahi, was left helpless and unable to go to school because of an infectious wound on his left leg which continued to be gangrenous. His kin could not afford his treatment.
From a very young age, Sunil had to face problems after losing his mother. As his father is mentally unsound, Sunil’s brother and sister have been living with their aunt Manguli Munda. His aunt is too poor to get him treated. When his wound became serious, he was forced to give up education.
Sunil’s family comprising parents, two sisters and a brother lived in a hut. His aunt had earlier taken Sunil to Jhumpura CHC Hospital and then Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), but his wound could not be treated.
