Baliguda: Acting on tip–off a special squad of police nabbed a habitual ATM looter from Paburia under Sarangad police limits and this sub-division in Kandhamal district Sunday.
The accused was identified as Prabhakar Pradhan, a native of Munda Sahi in Shankarakhol village. He was arrested after the police team tracked his mobile phone and traced his location at Paburia, police IIC Samir Rout said. He was taken for questioning and further investigations were on, the IIC added.
As many as 15 ATM cards and cash worth Rs 10,000 were seized from his possession during his arrest. Pradhan was a habitual ATM looter and active in a series of ATM thefts in Kandhamal and neighbouring Ganjam districts.
He spent over six months in Berhampur jail and was released December 4. However, he again fell into the bad practice after his return from the jail and went on a spree to loot ATMS. Several cases of ATM loot have been registered in his name in Berhampur, Sarangad, Khajuripada police stations.
