Raipur/Jagdalpur: Located at Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district, Mata Lingeshwari Temple is unlike any other temple of the country. What makes this temple unique is the fact that it opens for the devotees only for 12 hours in a year.
A large number of devotees from across the state throng to the shrine to take the blessings of the deity. The temple is located at the top of a giant stone and devotees had to crawl to enter the temple.
When the temple opens, it is believed that five persons foresee future after seeing the marks on the sand. If there is a mark of a claw on the sand, it is considered a symbol of war or a sign of the famine.
Due to this special tradition and popularity from generations together, the door of Lingeswari mother opens only once a year. A large number of people who don’t have children come here to seek blessing for bearing a child and often their prayers are heard by the goddess.
The district administration also beefs up the security arrangement in the area as the temple is located in the Naxal-affected area.
