Cuttack, May 22: Biswabharati Cricket Club (BCC) earned a narrow victory by eight runs over Rameswar Sporting Club (RSC) to enter the semifinals of the Laxinarayan Cup cricket tournament at the Rajkishore Bidyapitha Ground here Friday.
Opting to bat first, BCC scored 168 for the loss of six wickets in 18 overs. Man of the match Lagnajit Samal (64, 26b, 3×4, 5×6) scored a brisk half century and was well supported by Sanjeev Sahoo (30, 24b, 2×4, 2×6). Alok Das (2/30) and Vishal Kar (2/47) bowled well for RSC.
In spite of Priyabrata Pradhan’s (55, 39b, 7×4, 2×6) brave effort, RSC were dismissed for 160 in 17.2 overs. A late cameo by Sarthak Mohapatra (35, 19b, 2×4, 2×6) failed to take RSC to the victory target. Prachin Mishra (4/19) was the pick of the bowlers for BCC.
