Bhubaneswar, June 5: Orissa’s visually impaired cricketer Md Jafar Iqbal expressed happiness regarding his bowling and fielding efforts in the recently-concluded ODI and T-20 series against England in London.
India won the three-match ODI series 2-0 with the last game being washed away. The visually-impaired cricketers then routed England 3-0 in the T20 series.
“We completely dominated the T20 series and did not allow the hosts an inch. We were a far superior side,” Jafar stated, after his arrival in the city Friday.
The vice-captain of the side also expressed satisfaction on his own performances. “I picked up two wickets in the T20 games and had an economy of less than seven. Our coach Raj Kumar Patrick hailed my bowling efforts, Jafar said.
“In batting, I did not have many opportunities. But in the last game, I scored 12 runs which included the winning hit. It was a tight encounter and so my knock turned out to be very crucial. So that short knock gave me a lot of satisfaction,” Jafar added.
However, the all-rounder admitted that he was not up to the mark in the ODI series. “I took time to adjust to the cold conditions in England. I could not adjust to the pitches quickly,” Jafar stated.
