Cuttack, Dec 17: West Bengal defeated Jharkhand 2-0 Wednesday in the East Zone final of the U -15 Coca Cola Cup football tournament at the Barabati stadium here Wednesday.
In spite of having reached the final with emphatic margins of victory against Orissa (5-2) and Sikkim (14-0) in their previous matches, the Jharkhand players looked out of sorts as the West Bengal dominated proceedings from the very
beginning.
Arnab Neogi (18th minute) and Abhijit Mondal (36th minute) scored the goals for Bengal. Jharkhand players lacked understanding and never really created any good opening.
West Bengal coach Trijit Das alleged that many Jharkhand players were overage. “However, our boys played with discipline and followed the strategy we had made for the match,” he said.
Both the finalists will represent the East Zone in the national finals to be played at Goa.
