BHUBANESWAR: Ketaki Foundation Trust is all set to begin Lulung Painters Camp 2019 at Mayurbhanj Tuesday. The camp is aimed to preserving and promoting the art, culture and literature of the state.
The event is also meant to facilitate placement of works of various work in public collections, promote public awareness of artist life and work through scholarly research and documentation.
The painters’ camp is themed ‘I am with nature’. It will bring together ten Odia painters of repute working in different regions in India at Aranya Nivas, Lulung, amidst the pristine environs of Simlipal Biosphere Reserve Forest.
The artists will create works of art to mark the aforementioned theme. They will work together to collaborate in their creative endeavour, create individual works and will have inspiration drawn from each other’s background, nature and tradition among other things.
The objective of the event is to interweave discerning creativity and the simplicity of nature. The camp will also play host to a series of interactive sessions through workshop at local school of Lulung through a workshop and discussions pertaining to cultural and artistic exchange and also on interesting topics like modernity and environment in the global scenario.
“These painters will also be doing Yoga together. They will also get the first-hand experience of the Zethnic and folk dance forms Chhau and Jhumar of Mayurbhanj and will get to connect with the artists culturally,” said the organiser.
The paintings that’ll be created extempore at the camp will be displayed in a special exhibition to be inaugurated by prominent guests on a later date.
Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary to the Government, Tourism Department, Government of Odisha will be the Chief Guest for the camp. He will felicitate and interact with the painters.
