Bhubaneswar: The NDA-II government in the first 100 days of its governance has allocated `16,000 crore to Odisha, Union Minister of State for Shipping, Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandaviya stated Monday.

Speaking to the media here, the minister spoke about the work done by the Union government in the first 100 days. He said, “In the initial 100 days of the NDA-2 government we have allocated `16,000 crore to Odisha. When Fani hit the state, our Prime Minister promised `1,000 crore which has been given; besides that another `3,339 crore was also sanctioned.”

The minister said that in the first 100 days of BJP’s governance the Centre allocated `4,600 crore in total to the state to tackle the damage brought about by Fani. He, however, also requested the state government to make new, cyclone-resistant infrastructure in coastal areas of the state.

He said, “The PM wants Odisha to construct infrastructure which is resistant to cyclones. We want to request Naveen ji to opt for cyclone-proof infrastructure. Such initiatives can empower the state to fight any cyclone with more vigour.”

The minister also said that in the initial 100 days of governance, the Centre has sanctioned `5,900 crore to Odisha under CAMPA funds to ensure adequate green cover to the state. For railways, the government is said to have already allocated `6,000 crore to the state.

With the Ujjwala scheme, 47 lakh beneficiaries have enjoyed supply of clean energy in the state, he said and added that the Centre had also ensured Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for the schemes.

Speaking about the proposed plan to make Paradip an Industrial Smart City, the minister said,

“Through our ministry we have decided to make Paradip an industrial city. We are promoting industries in this area. A few
industries have already got land allocated through bidding to pave the way for making Paradip a Smart Industrial City.” Such actions will lead to increase in job prospects in the nearby areas, he opined.
