In China, a case related to marriage and divorce has come to the forefront, which might surprise you. Here 11 people of the same family got married among themselves 23 times, but then within two weeks, they also divorced each other.
According to media reports, the family members got married to each other to get a government plan. It began when a man named Pan, who lives in a small village in Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, came to know about the government’s Urban Renewal Compensation Scheme. According to the scheme, an apartment of 40 square meters will be given to local residents, irrespective of whether they had any property or not.
Pan made a plan to take advantage of this government scheme and remarried his ex-wife, whom he divorced in 2011. He then got an apartment under the government scheme. Then six days later he divorced his ex-wife. Pan’s greed increased so much that he married his sister-in-law and even his sister for the apartment.
According to a website, Pan’s other relatives also joined the fraud. Even his father and mother got married. By doing this they registered themselves as residents of the village and then got divorced, but the housing scheme officials somehow came to know about this fraud.
When the authorities investigated, it was found that the 11 people who got married have the same address and then their relationship was also revealed. After this, all were arrested.
