New Delhi, Oct 2: Pravash Samal, who was abducted by ISIS terrorists in Libya recently, arrived in the national capital Wednesday and was secured in an undisclosed location amid tight security. Sources said Samal’s return was a well-orchestrated rescue operation on which no details were forthcoming from the government.
“Pravash Samal has safely reached Delhi,” said principal resident commissioner Sunil Bhargav in the city.
Samal narrated his ordeal in an interview to an Oriya news channel later in the day. “On the midnight of September 7 or 8, a group of people stormed our hospital housing complex, broke into our house and captured us. The area is controlled by IS,” Samal said.
“The Prime Minister and National Security Adviser were working closely for my rescue. The security agencies took care of my safety till I reached Delhi,” Samal said.
Sources said Samal’s return to India was done in a secretive manner as there are three other Indians who are still held hostage by the terrorist group.
The ministry of external affairs meanwhile has not released any statement
regarding Samal’s rescue operation.
Samal was working as a biomedical engineer at the University Teaching Hospital in Sirte city of Libya since 2002.
