Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: A young married couple was Thursday arrested by Laxmisagar police for robbing a man’s laptop and mobile phone by posing as buyers who had contacted him on the e-commerce site Quickr.
The accused were identified as Tusharkanta Khadunga (21), of Rupa Sahi in Ganjam district, and Suchi Snigdha Pradhan (20), of Gosain Nuagaon in the same district. The couple stayed at Dumduma under Khandagiri police limits.
They were arrested by the Special Squad which tracked their mobile phone number. The squad handed them over to the local police, which charged them under Sections 379 (theft) and 34 (conniving) of IPC.
According to the FIR lodged by complainant Sandeep Kumar Das (27), of GGP Colonly, he had put an advertisement on Quikr to sell his laptop and mobile phone. In response to the ad, he received a call from Pradhan on Oct 19, in which she asked him to come near Bomikhal with the laptop and the phone.
The couple came by a scooty to meet Das and asked him to ride pillion with them to their home so that they could check the fitness of the laptop. Das agreed and the three of them rode on. However, near Canal Road, Khadunga allegedly asked him to get down, saying the bump on the road before them was too high for three persons on the bike. As soon as Das got down, the couple fled with his laptop and mobile phone.
The Special squad tracked the couple for a week before finally arresting them.
