The Dhalasamanta Brothers
Cuttack: The commissionerate police Thursday claimed to have gleaned several crucial clues on the murder of the Dhalasamanta brothers’ onetime close associates Dipu and Om by interrogating Tulia Behera of Bidanasi, a close confidant of the criminal siblings.
Twin-city police commissioner YB Khurania claimed the Dhalasamanta brothers – Sushil Dhalasamanta and Sushanta Dhalasamanta – had burnt the bodies of the two former aides to destroy evidence of their murder.
Information that police have managed to collect on the alleged murders include the locations where Dipu and Om were killed by the Dhalasamanta brothers and the places where their bodies were disposed of, said sources. A special team of the commissionerate police has reportedly taken one of the criminal siblings to an undisclosed location outside the state to collect detailed information on the two murders.
“We are taking the help of forensic science experts to confirm certain bits of evidence regarding the killing of Dipu and Om, two friends-turned-foes of the criminal siblings,” said a police official.
Meanwhile, another team of the CP along with a forensic science team visited several places in the state to trace the criminal activities of the Dhalasamanta brothers, sources said.
Police said Dipu and Om were two most trusted lieutenants of the criminal siblings and that they were quite familiar with the duo’s criminal network. “The Dhalasamanta brothers were apprehensive that Dipu and Om might spill the beans on their large criminal network if police managed to arrest them. The criminal brothers decided to eliminate Dipu and Om when the later duo floated a new gang with the help of some splinter groups,” said an official.
“We have made enough headway in the murder of Dipu and Om. We will disclose the whole episode in a couple of days,” said deputy commissioner of police Sanjeev Arora.
The CP did not produce the Dhalasamanta siblings in the court of Cuttack Sadar sub-divisional judicial magistrate Thursday to seek their consent for a polygraph test. “Now, we are expediting our investigation on the murder of Dipu and Om. We will produce the Dhalasamantas in the SDJM court in connection with the polygraph test later,” said Arora. PNN
