Deogarh: The special squad of Deogarh police arrested a smuggler Monday while he was trying to sell a pair of elephant tusks.
The ivory tusks weigh more than 2.50 kg, the cost of which has been estimated at Rs 15 lakh, SP Raj Kishor Paikray said.
The special squad of cops led by SDPO Pratyush Kumar Mohapatra, which nabbed the accused in this case, had disguised themselves as customers.
“We are investigating further in coordination with the Forest department to ascertain the links of the trader. A case has been registered in this connection,” said Paikray.
