Bhubaneswar, June 16: An Indigo Kolkata-Bhubaneswar-Mumbai flight (6E 293) with 178 passengers on board suffered a bird hit while take off from Kolkata airport.
“The flight experienced a bird hit during its take off from Kolkata. However, it managed to make a safe landing at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA),” said Sanjay Jain, regional executive director (eastern region), Airports Authority of India.
The left wing of the aircraft faced slight damage because of the bird hit, sources said.
The plane was grounded at BPIA and the airline arranged another flight for the Mumbai passengers.
However, some airline sources said on condition of anonymity that the flight experienced the bird hit while landing at BPIA.
