Orissa settle for one point

Bhubaneswar/Cuttack, Sept 7: Orissa had to be content with a single point after Himachal Pradesh (three points) took the first innings lead in the two-day match of the Dhruv Pandove U-19 cricket tournament at Chandigarh, Wednesday.
Resuming their overnight score of 23 for no loss, Himachal batsmen put up a good show scoring 342/5 at stumps. Subham Arora (103 n o, 117b, 11×4, 1×6) held the HP innings together with a brilliant unbeaten century while openers Arshlan Khan (50, 92b, 6×4) and man of the match Digvijay Singh (90, 142b, 13×4) laid the foundation with a 102-run stand. The icing on the cake was the unfinished 110 runs stand between Arora and Sajan Rana (35 n o).
Ayaskanta Sahoo (2/66) and Suryakanta Samal (2/101) bagged two wickets each.

Ranjit, Pabitra felicitated

Orissa cricketer Ranjit Singh and umpire Pabitra Pradhan were honoured with the ‘Emerging Cricketer of the year’ and the ‘Umpire of the year’ awards at the Saroj Mahasuara Memorial Sports Awards ceremony at the Town Club Ground here, Tuesday.

Narrow win for Radha Raman

Radha Raman Club scraped past Rising Student Club 1-0 in a match of FAO first division super league at the Barabati Stadium here, Wednesday. Meanwhile, in another game played on the day, Rising Star Club and Mangala Club shared four goals in a 2-2 draw.
After a goalless first period, T Sahir ensured three points for Radha Raman with a goal in the 67th minute.
In the other match, Mangala Club got a two-goal advantage through Apul Bhoi (27th) and Tapas Rout (58th). But they failed to hold on to the lead as Rising Star levelled the score with goals from Sanjit Khura (69th) and Usta Jani (76th).

LIC victorious

LIC Sports Club pipped Chauliaganj Club 1-0 in a match of the FAO second division football league at the Barabti Stadium here, Wednesday. Kshyamakar Nayak scored the winning goal in the 59th minute.

St Xavier’s beat St Joseph’s

Xavier’s High School, Khandagiri eked out a hard-fought 1-0 win over St Joseph’s HS in a match of Bhubaneswar Inter-School football tournament in Bhubaneswar, Wednesday. Ashish Singh (40th minute) scored the winning goal.
In another match, Kalinga Vidyapitha, Sampur got a walkover as their opponents Xavier International School did not turn up.
IRC High School will face Kendriya Vidyalaya-2 while BJB English Medium School will meet Ramakrushna Mission School, Thursday.

CAA spank SGO

Chandrasekharpur Athletic Association (CAA) thrashed SGO, Nayapalli 5-0 in a match of the Gati Krushna Memorial football league, organised by the Bhubaneswar Athletic Association in Bhubaneswar, Thursday.
Sameer Kerketta (10th, 45th) struck twice while Bepey Oram (second), Dula Murmu (22nd) and Kush Jani (48th) scored apiece for CAA.
