Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: Orissa Sports Journalists Association (OSJA) is fully ready to host the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) Convention in the state capital, September 14-18.
“Eminent sports journalists from all the states of the country will participate in this five-day convention. Sports stars like Olympian gymnast Dipa Karmakar, her coach Bisweswar Nandi, former sprinter PT Usha and billiards star Geet Sethi will grace the occasion,” OSJA officials stated in a press conference here Sunday.
“Among eminent Orissa players Dilip Tirkey, Debashis Mohanty, Dutee Chand, Padmini Rout, Shiv Sundar Das and Arupananda Routray will also participate in the function. Everyday seminars on different sports topics will be organised. Asian Sports Journalists Association secretary General Amzad Malik will be present on the third day. World Sports Journalists Association secretary Xiani Marlo will address the delegates from Milan City of Italy through skype, September 15,” stated OSJA president K Ravi.
Different competitions in games like cricket, table tennis, football penalty and basketball will also be organised among the scribes.
KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta was present in the news conference as the chief guest and he assured all kinds of support to OSJA for the successful organisation of the convention. Among others OSJA secretary Suresh Swain, executive president Sanatan Pani and other members also addressed the meet.
Players selected
Orissa Taekwondo Association (OTA) selected a 26-member team for the 36th National Junior Taekwondo Championship and IXth National Junior Poomsae Taekwondo Championship to be held at Anand sahiba, Punjab, September 25-26. Orissa players will depart from here September 20.
