Cuttack: A newly-married couple Thursday was found hanging inside their bedroom at Bheda Ramchandrapur village under Banki block in Cuttack district, a source said.
The deceased couple was identified as Dharanidhar Sahu and his wife Nirupama Sahu.
Without informing the police, the family members allegedly tried to cremate the bodies. On being informed, police reached the spot and stopped the cremation. Afterwards, the cops sent the bodies for post-mortem.
According to the source, Dharanidhar had married Nirupama around seven months ago. He used to earn his livelihood by working at a sweetshop in Bhubaneswar. Dharanidhar used to visit his village on several occasions and then went back to his workplace in Bhubaneswar after a brief stay. He had come to his village Wednesday.
However, he and his wife were found hanging from the ceiling fan of their bedroom Thursday morning, the source added.
The reason behind their deaths is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
