Bhubaneswar: Actor and director Chittaranjan Tripathy from Odisha was appointed as the director of National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, officials said Friday.
Tripathy, who was born in Chandbali town of Odisha’s Bhadrak district, has made significant contributions to both Odia and Hindi cinema. He is an alumnus of the National School of Drama (NSD). He belonged to the same batch as noted actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
In 2007, Tripathy made his directorial debut with the Odia film Dhauli Express, in which he also acted. Notably, he served as the scriptwriter, music director, lyricist, playback singer, and producer for the film, which received three Odisha State Film Awards.

Tripathy has also acted in many Hindi movies including Delhi 6, Phantom, Shaandaar, Talvar, and Tera Mera Tedha Medha. Besides, he is known for his role as Trivedi in the popular Netflix series Sacred Games and for playing a police inspector in Chhapaak, a film based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
In addition, he portrayed a negative character in the web series M.O.M Mission Over Mars. He recently appeared in Abhishek Bachchan starrer Dasvi.
